The hitching post definitely seems to be portally to Frances. Even though Marty had previously ducked under it, he's pretty sure the underneath part is where the portal lies.

"Maybe there's a switch or something on the underside?" She lays on her back and scoots under the hitching post to examine the underside of the crossbeam.

Hano watches as Marty vanishes under the post. "Huh? She only vanished the second time? Maybe 'cause she went feet first?" She grabs the top of the hitching post and swings under.

Hano vanishes as well, as does Maki (assuming she goes under in a reclining position). The group arrives on a large rock, that is hurtling through a large vortex of similar hurtling rocks and mounds of dirt and unplanted trees.
In her field of vision (periodically), is a hunk of earth about a half acre in size, with a lawn and a picket fence and a nice one story house, painted an assortment of colors in no pattern whatsoever.

"Whoa-o!" Hano exclaims as she gazes around. "This looks cool! But confusing..." Hano sees the house, and says "That looks like a place to go! Whoever lives there might help us." She'll wait until the house is on its way around, and then dash forward and leap for the hunk of earth the house is on.

Marty stares as the mind-churning vista with awe, and a faint nausea. Fighting the feeling, she carefully inspects their immediate surrounds, hoping to identify features she could easily find when they want to return.
As she searched a softball-sized hunk of material streaks in from the void, and she instinctively bats it away. It's only after the chunk of stuff has sailed out of sight that she realizes that she is now holding a baseball bat. "Whoa!"
