"Th' Harmonium," Rae answers. If anyone wonders how she knows, she follows up with, "Know thy enemy..."

Marty struggled to contain a laugh, or even a smirk, at Rae's outrageous tale of intoxication on he high seas. She did cast a glance toward Jennifer to gauge just how much she bought into the story.
"Here we are." She pushed her way into the Legitimate Spice store. "What all do we need? Paprika and pepper and mustard and..." She rattled off the shopping list, going from rack to rack to gather what she recognized,

Marty kept the corner of an eye on Jennifer and her staring. "You know hemp is a perfectly ordinary plant, right? Grows cultivated and wild all over the place."
“That’s just what the Demons want us to think.” Jennifer muttered conspiratorially “It comes straight from Demogorgan’s closet, spawned under a sun lamp of chaos.”

"Aye," Rae agrees. "Hemp be used fer ropes and some o' our sails back home. Made fightin' very interestin' when a fire broke out," she grins at Jennifer, "With all the pirates heads floatin' about o'er the water like balloons... jus' bobbin' in th' winds...."
Jennifer started to nod before squinting suspiciously at Rae, unsure of whether or not the Siren was making a joke or not. She decided to let the matter drop rather than continue on it though, particularly after she was reasonably sure that Marty’s head seemed to be firmly attached to her shoulders.

“Baatorian Mustard,” Jennifer corrected. “And Peppercornugons, can’t forget those. Couldn’t rightfully call something deviled without peppercornugons.”

Lorenzo lightly chuckles at their commentary, picking out five spices whose names seem firmly rooted in Giant and numerous danger stickers on them.
"Maybe what's true for one race isn't true for all races. Lizardfolk don't use hemp since it doesn't filter through our lungs like it does yours. Ends up being like what would happen if a human tried smoking nightshade."

Shopping for spices...legitimately... wasn't really one of Rae's strengths. She came along in case they needed help getting spices from the smugglers, as that was something she understood. So she leaned against the doorframe and watched her new friends shopping, and smiled.

Leo grimaced at the thought.
"I never have asked what the Cold Suns were smokin' back home. Figured t'weren't my business. You hail from a tribe I might know, Lorenzo?"

"Rope and cordage is really where the money is in hemp." She parroted something she'd overheard while listening to her father and older brothers planning for spring planting. "Sometimes the Duke would even pay a subsidy for planting it if the Navy needed resupply."
She got everything she thought she'd need and put it on the counter near Rae. "We need to stop at the farmer's market for maize and cooking oil and whatever else." The lion kid had picked that term from the one's she'd used when asking.

"Cold Suns? Wait a tic, you mean you're from the Old Homeland? Cor, me great gran had stories about there from when she was a hatching. But nah, my tribe's one that built up of fragments of larger tribes that sought their own lands and went to Xen'Drik. Took the name Thuya after a species of tree native there, kinda grows from a lot of the smaller trees growing together into a twiny big tree. Speaking of which, likely a mix of oak bark and select mushrooms, mate."

Rae pulls out a gold coin from the picnic fund, then looks at the merchant. "Arrr, how much all this be?" She looks at the others, "Should we make th' bugbear pay fer the spices? If we don't need t' use th' doubloons, we c'n keep them fer the more expensive items? Aye?"

"Don't be led astray Jennifer, mind-altering substances are a trap that fool you into ignoring your problems."
