"You are?" Things were getting stranger and stranger. "What part? My name's Marty and I'm from Karameikos, near a town named Threshold."

"Oh, our communities are hidden," she says. "You've never heard of the place I'm from. Not far from you, on a global scale."

"Oh." There were lines in the Prophesy about the return of the Beastmen, though she didn't know how horrible that would be if they were all like Narvallia.
"We should get together and talk sometime." She offered. "Maybe over coffee or something. But anyway, reason I'm here was to ask for your help. Actually I had a couple questions. First, what do you know about a god named Sonponna? And second, could you help me find a book by Euclid Darwin? The title's kinda strange." She looked at her note card. "On the Elements of Species"

"Well, the book is easy," she says, walking through the stacks. "It's in the Lawful Neutral philosophies section, under 'Speciation by Geometric Design'. As for Sonponna... oh, yes. Goddess of smallpox, I believe."
Offline
"Thanks." She followed the librarian to the correct section and quickly found the book.
"Smallpox huh?" She considered that. "You don't happen to know a guy named Varus?" She asked. "He sat beside me earlier, and I got a bad vibe off him. Also, he scared everyone off." She gave that another think. "Where's the infirmary? I might need a smallpox inoculation." Actually, she knew where the infirmary was from when Gear crashed, she just wasn't sure how to get there from here.
"I can check this out, right?" She asked as she lifted the book and produced her student ID card.

"Worshiping the goddess of smallpox is not the same as HAVING smallpox!" Varus decries, causing a few people to stare, then back off from him. "Aaarrghh!"
"Shhh!" Narvallia says. "Of course you may check it out," she says, leading Marty to the desk and stamping her book.

Marty felt bad for Varus, and even paused to stand near him when she went back to her study table for her things. "Sorry for that." She told him as she packed quickly and efficiently. "But, smallpox is pretty serious. I'm sure part of your... that things religions have... Theology, no... whatever it is, I'm sure your god wants you to spread the plague, and that's pretty hard to ignore."
She booked, skating away from him and out of the library toward the nearest concentration of healers.

Marty arrives at the infirmary, and is greeted inside by a beholder, much larger than Neil, with a white cap on its head, the cap bearing a small red cross on the front.
"Oh, come on in, dear. How can I help you, today?" She sounds like she and Neil are probably related though.

At this point, a friendly beholder was old hat, and now that she thought about it, the internal pun was intended. Yeah, she was taking the credit.
"Hi, I may or may not have just been exposed to smallpox. Is preventive healing covered in the school health plan?" She asked. "Oh, and the possible source was another student, if that makes a difference. I'm Marty by the way. Marty Martinson, freshman, fifth floor Azre."

"Oh, a little Cure Disease ought to take care of that right away," the beholder nurse says, staring up and down at Marty with one of her eyestalks. Marty feels a tingle as she does so. "Now, you kids ought to stay away from that smallpox, it's just not good for ya, don'cha know?"
