Unit tosses the boy a gold piece. "Consume nutrients."

Jennifer was confused, weren’t the Hells the foundation of the multiverse? Nevertheless she had often heard that mortals could be surprisingly ignorant of the outer planes, so she resolved not to hold it against them and instead use it as an opportunity to educate.
“Hell, is Baator, it’s the foundation of order in the multiverse. Order is a pillar for the multiverse, without which all would tumble apart. The pillar originates from our lord and master Asmodeus who first turned order to purpose. As you ascend the pillar of order you reach the other planes of law, Acheron, Mechanus, Arcadia, and furthest of all Celestia. All of them are lawful but the further you get up the power the more other powers subvert the power of order for their own selfish ends, it’s very misguided. But even worse are those planes that deviate from order’s pillar, the further they are the less ordered and the more they threaten to upend the entire pillar. One day Asmodeus will spread order to all the multiverse and everyone will live in peace and harmony under his rightful rule.”
She shrugged after receipting this from memory from her Cult approved textbook on planar cosmology, as if she had just said something as simple as water being wet.
“But that’s big picture stuff. Hell itself is mostly a big layered chasm. It’s full of Baatezu, like my dad, and lord Asmodeus. Other than that there’s a lot of stuff in the nine layers. I’m from Phlegethos, it’s the fourth level. We’re mostly known for our pillars of fire and lava flows. It can get a little hot, but at least it’s a nice dry heat, not like our neighbors. Minauros is just a big icky swamp, and Stygia is freezing, don’t know how the Gelugon stand it.”

Rae nods, "That ye did, ye scallywags," she says. "Tharr be yer pay," she says as Unit tosses a gold piece into the young rakasta's hat. "An don't forget, ye be invited to enjoy our feast when it be done."

"Thank you, sir," Artie says to Unit, then to Rae, "Thank you, mum. Now we can get Dotty that medicine she's been needing." The halfling girl gives a half-hearted cough. "And thank you for the invitation. It's beyond generous of you."

"Arrr, when ye kill a giant crab, ye need to invite a lot of buckos o'er t' dispose o' it." Rae says.

"Well like I said, Jenn, we are mostly shut off. I literally only got here with a relic that had been sent to admit a Giant back in their Empire's decline and accidentally finding the portal running from the head of Unit's great great grandpa being used as a boulder, judging by the cursing."
He considers the rest as well.
"I mean, it sounds great, especially that swamp you mentioned, but those other planes are ones we lack too. Think we are only able to get here due to very specific portals opened from this side, to be honest. Or something tied to the moons. Like...something about afterlives? But we all go to Dolurrh, right? It is weird."

"I got here after a Cold Suns shaman shoved me down a hole in a bog," adds Leo, "but all that other stuff might be true."

Jennifer tilted her head, confused “What’s Dolurrh? People go to the plane that best represents their alignment. Or you can just pledge your soul to a servant of Hell to reserve your place there as a larva.”

"Dolurrh's where souls go when ya die, or so they say. An endless gray waste where ya just fade away over time. 'Course some folks say they picked the right gods so they get to go elsewhere."

Lorenzo shrugs.
"What Leo said. Though the ones who say that are mainly Silver Flamers and Keeper cultists, right? Rules seem to be different where we come from, like a realm built by other hands. Like, my tribe's not bad sorts, but we pray the Devourer finds prey elsewhere and pass us by just like any sailors should, despite preferring to stay inland. Or the Keeper doesn't take those of us who fall as his slaves. Normal for us, likely not normal for you."
