"Cars, huh? Oh yeah, I think I saw you drivin' a little one around at the festival! You ever work on anythin' bigger, or are you focused on the miniature stuff?"

"Oh hi Maki."  She looked at the boots the white woman held.  "Wow!  They look great!  And I think they might even fit."

She sat on her bed and changed into the new boot-skates.

"A flyin', heat ray-shootin' remote controlled car? Sounds like somethin' that could come in handy adventurin'."

The boots fit perfectly, and Marty stood to try them out.  They walked fine, though they were heavy enough that they'd take getting used to.  "So I drop the wheels by kicking this latch?"  She asked as she tapped the inside edge of a toe against the opposite heel.

With some experimentation she figured out how to both raise and lower the wheels.  "Awesome!  I wonder how they roll?"  And she took off down the hall for a test.

She built up pretty good speed before rolling into the lounge where she spotted Leon and RC.  "Oiy!"  she braked with a graceful spin.   "Hey guys."  She plopped into an overstuffed chair and put her feet up on a table which conspicuously displayed her new skates. 

"Hiya Marty," says Leo, "I was just talkin' with RC here about the application of flying remote-controlled laser cars to adventurin'.  I see Maki provided you with your new boots."
