Re: Chapter 1: The Boat, The Boat, The Boat Is On Fire...

Voltus hadn't expected the reaction from the elemental - which in this ship seemed to be of the fiery variety.  The ship did a plunging spiral from which the half-elf barely managed to regain control.

"Hang on!"   The pilot yelled as they ran straight toward the underside of a major ring.  Several sharp turns and and a hard foot on the throttle and they managed to avoid the collision, if not the wild ride which at one point almost had them flying upside-down.

"Iain Baird," says the man with the strange, hefty sword, "and no offense, but technically it's Cannith's ship until we get it out of the city and somewhere safe."

"Possession is nine tenths of the law, and I," he gestures between himself and his dinosaur, "have two votes on my side.  But, you are right that it would be good to get out of the city quickly."

"Would you two quit bitching and help me control this damned elemental?  She's pissy as hell that we drenched her."

Re: Chapter 1: The Boat, The Boat, The Boat Is On Fire...

"Pissy" was an understatement. The fact that Voltus was driving through a crowded environment and was under a decent amount of stress from the pair's arguing was not helping matters. So what started out as a relatively uncomfortable but manageable flight through the middle city rapidly turned into a madcap dash over and across the outside of the city, culminating with the ship spiraling out of control down into the Cogs. As the ship comes into contact with the ground in the pit that festers under Sharn, it shudders with a terrible violent thud and sends you all flying aftwards. Through some miracle you and the ship's overall structure remain unharmed. But the inside of the ship is a mess, most of the topside supplies flew overboard, and nearly all of the already dwindling support crew perished. Also the elemental doesn't seem to want to ignite again, so that's a problem.

Meanwhile, Triage finds himself faced with a room which appears to be something of a conventional set of bunking quarters for sailors... and in fact still resembles such. There appear to be a number of holes and scorch marks where the Cannith blasts got through but there appears to be no actual fires remaining down here. As you look into the next room over, you get the vague glimpse of a gnome standing over a red-yellow pool of some kind, but your view is quickly interrupted as everything goes sideways and you find yourself falling towards a corner of the room... before the ship rights itself again and gravity tosses you back the other way.

Kirnan yelps and grabs Caladria's saddle, hovering over the ship.  "Are you telling me the elemental is, what, panicking?"

Re: Chapter 1: The Boat, The Boat, The Boat Is On Fire...

"Gnh!"
The shuddering and bashing of the ship was harsh, and Triage feared the worst for the crew. But the best way he could help was likely forward, so forward he went. Drawing his handaxe, next time he slams into the ground he tries to anchor himself into it, using his axe to try and anchor himself until he can get a handhold. Then just crawl his way forward while the room spins.  That was the ticket.
"...Getting too old for this shit."
Still he continues to try and make his way forward, until the final portion of air time dislodged him and threw him to the next room, likely through a sturdy wood wall.
"...REALLY getting too old for this."

"Possession is nine-tenths of my aaaaaaaaa--" Iain trails off as he's flung into the aft railing. He clings to it for dear life as the ship grinds to a stop... and continues to do so a bit after, just in case.

"I hope the ship's carpenter survived."  Voltus said as he lashed down the wheel and powered off the auxiliaries.

Once finished with that he looked up the steep slope of the formally level deck.  "Now, to deal with that elemental."

Re: Chapter 1: The Boat, The Boat, The Boat Is On Fire...

As Voltus heads over to the side of the ship to deal with elemental ring he discovers that despite the elemental refusing to lift the ship, it is by no means inactive. When he tries to approach the elemental energy stabilization centers on the edge of the ship, a burst of fire flares up and prevents him from getting anywhere close. After a few attempts at this, the entirety of the ring begins to hum and a large burst of fire pours forth from the top half towards the deck of the ship in a tremendous gout of light and flame. Instead of setting the ship ablaze again, the fire moves around a bit in a controlled manner before coalescing in a small area into a person sized glob. The glob then shifts and warps, taking on the characteristics of a human woman, though the sound that comes out of its mouth still sounds as much a product of crackling embers as anything else resembling speech. Eventually the noise fine tunes itself to a recognizable:

"iiiiiiiiIdiots!"
