Re: Born to be a Rock (of Bral) Star

Rae brings the spoon up to her mouth, then puts it back down as she says, "oh, aye!  Ye be speakin' true.  I know me plane be connected to the Great Wheel as they be calling's it, by portals...but I not be knowin' if the Flow connects t' Ixalan. If th' sailors be believed, the Flow touches everything.  One sailor did swear ye could travel even more places on somethin' called the Astral Sea...but no one be givin' him much credence." She stirs the soup as she thinks. "Have ye ever hear o' such thing as the Astral Sea?"

Re: Born to be a Rock (of Bral) Star

"Oh, yes. I've never seen it myself, but I've heard many things. Although, it seems most shells have a... for lack of a better description, 'main' world, and planar travelers usually end up there, instead of one of these more... distant planets. So very few astral travelers arrive on our little port."

Re: Born to be a Rock (of Bral) Star

Rae puts the soup near her mouth, blowing in it, then Lowe's it as she says, " I be supposin' I should learn one thing before flittin' to another like some barmy bird, though.  Where might I be findin' folks who've navigated to many distant spheres, maybe even to my sphere?"

Re: Born to be a Rock (of Bral) Star

"If I'm not mistaken, you just left a perfect place for that, in Bral. But your next stopover on Krynn should be populated by a few experienced spelljamming folk."

Re: Born to be a Rock (of Bral) Star

Rae nods.  "Aye, I be thinkin' the Rock would be th' place.  But I needed to take a trip on a ship to be learnin' how to spelljam.  I be able to get back t' the Rock later t' find someone."

She leans back. " So, what d'ye be doin' here?  Why did ye decide t' stay."

Re: Born to be a Rock (of Bral) Star

"It's... complicated. I am torn between curiosity and complacence. Took to the stars to learn the secrets of the vast universe, but found I didn't like the experience of travel, just the knowledge so attained. And I found these people from Shou Lung to be good company, and this port to allow me to talk with those who have done the travel that I care not to do, and thereby possess the knowledge my curiosity craves."

Re: Born to be a Rock (of Bral) Star

Rae leans back.  "Do ye get much in th' way o' visitors here? It be seein' like ye might meet more travelers on th' Rock as well."

Re: Born to be a Rock (of Bral) Star

"No, I couldn't be happy there. I need the wilderness to my back and the ability to distance myself from time to time. I love the people of this town, but I value privacy more than life in a city could allow."

Re: Born to be a Rock (of Bral) Star

"Aye, that be makin' sense," Rae says "I be born on a ship, surrounded by crewmates.  I find moments o' privacy t'be precious moments worth more'n gold.". She picks up her spoon then pauses. "...but only barely..." She smiles.

Re: Born to be a Rock (of Bral) Star

Ling nods, and ladles herself another bowl of soup. "There is value to be had in company as well," she says. "And gold as well, else I wouldn't spend so much of my feeble efforts running a port of call on a rather inhospitable world."
