"So do you know a lot about the organization proper?" Hano gestures at the larger group of scouts. "I mean, I know what Elven Scouts is about, but not the-" she gives a tiny shudder- "formalities and stuff."

"Oh, it creates a structured environment to learn about wilderness survival, loyalty, campfire songs and..."
"We're going on a surprise weekend hunting trip!" the leader declares. "Grab your packs."
"Preparedness. Always be prepared... to be dragged off into the woods at a moment's notice."

Hano nods sagely, says "All good skills. Speaking of preparedness, in fact, I didn't bring a pack.", and shrugs cheerfully. "But that's what happens when you aren't prepared. Wow, I'm learning things already!" she declares happily. All the same, she'll look around to see if there happens to be spare packs. But if not, she'll just get ready to follow the group.

If, by "spare pack," Hano means the unattended pack sitting beside a young wood elf three feet to her left that he's not paying attention to, then there does happen to be one.

"Hey, is this your pack?" Hano asks the wood elf. She would normally just take it, buuut since she's at the scout meeting, might as well give this whole "private property" thing a try.

"Hmm? Oh, yes. Thank you." He picks up the pack and slings it over his shoulder.

Don't know what I expected, honestly. Hano sighs to herself, but I'll just think of it as an exercise in improvisation. She says to Hal "Alllright! Let's go!" and walks into whatever portal is set up.

The troop passes through the portal and into another wooded area, this one much denser and darker. "The thing about enchanted dark woods," the leader says, "is there could be danger at every..." Something reaches out and grabs him, dragging him into the dense foliage, followed by gross crunching sounds.

"Whoa, he wasn't kidding!" Hano whistles. She runs to near the front of the group and scans the foliage in front of them for any sign of movement, tensing into a defensive stance. (Dodge action if necessary)
[Roughly how many people are in the group?]

There are about eight people here, besides Hano and the now-missing leader.
"Be careful," the leader's voice echoes through the foliage, fading as it goes. "There might be giants."
